Can You Benefit from the Services of Community Concern Erewash?

Do you need support in your home?

Carers and families are supported by our Home Comforts Team, services which alleviate some of the problems they face in caring for others. On behalf of Erewash Community Safety Partnership / Erewash Borough Council we fit security equipment in homes where people have been burgled, live in fear of being burgled or are victims of domestic violence. Thus reducing the instances of crime.

We help people with mental health and physical health problems to remain living in their own home independently.

We support the development of the Older Persons Forums

On behalf of EBC and Sure Start, we fit safety equipment in homes where there are small children and babies.

We offer befriending to those who are lonely and are in need of company to overcome isolation.

We support local schools and distribute their Harvest Festival produce to those in need in the community

Our Home Comforts Team offer services to enable people to remain and/or return to their home after being in hospital and enables hospital beds to be utilised to the full. These services include fixing safety handrails, decorating the home, finding donations of furniture and curtains and bringing beds downstairs for those who are unable to climb the stairs.

Our Home Comforts Team is always busy carrying out gardening, painting and DIY in hundreds of homes throughout Erewash.

Would you like to develop new skills?

We support people onto training courses such as Befriending and Active Life

We encourage individuals to volunteer and undertake training to enhance their quality of life.

We support and train unemployed people to gain confidence, skills and an increase in self-worth to go on to obtain paid employment.

We support people with mental health problems by offering a placement on the Home Comforts Team or in other projects so they can build their self esteem, confidence, skills and enhance their own health and well-being by helping others.

For more information, see our working in partnership page.

Do you want to get out more?

We provide Hot Meals and social interaction at our Lunch Club twice a week. We also hold a party on Christmas Day. More information about the lunch club.

If you'd like to join us for lunch, or help out as a volunteer on any of our projects, please contact us.

Other Organisations

We facilitate the Cotmanhay Network Group, which is open to anyone who lives, works or has an interest in Cotmanhay.

We network with other organisations such as Brooklands Mental Health Team, Social Services, the Police, Sure Start, Home Start Erewash, Erewash Local Strategic partnership, Erewash Borough Council and Ilkeston Hospital.

We administer the Erewash Primary Care Trust "Action on Health" Grant to support local groups on projects with Health related benefits. Local groups are able to apply for funding for activities in Ilkeston North and Cotmanhay. The types of groups which have benefitted from this initiative in the past include children's healthy eating and fitness clubs, laundry projects and family support groups. To see whether your group activity might be appropriate for funding support, please contact Elaine Scogings on 0115 9444146 or email Elaine.

We support the work of Erewash Citizens Advice Bureau, Erewash Credit Union and the Cotmanhay Neighbourhood Management Group.

We are proactive with systems and risk assessment to be able to support the community with their needs when they arise.

Those offering our services are trained in Health & Safety, First Aid and Manual Handling.
Our Home Comforts Team members have been trained by the Police in Assessment of homes for potential burglaries and are trained by Fire & Rescue Service in the fitting of smoke alarms.

All of our workers and volunteers are referenced chacked and CRB checks are also carried out.

We receive referrals from Doctors, Health Visitors, Families, Self, Police, Fire & Rescue Service, Victim Support, ECAB, Family Support Centre, ECVS and others
